About me

One thing I've done in my life is follow my heart

And it’s taken me on some wonderful adventures.

I witnessed my first birth at 16. I am forever grateful to the young woman who allowed a work experience student into the room. Try as I might too not, I wept, and knew the divine was present.

After years of study, graduating from university as a nurse, working as an Emergency Nurse and then backpacking around the world, I returned to study midwifery, with the view that I could support women to birth physiologically. I knew that with the right support, a woman's body holds the wisdom to birth.

My five children were born at home without any medical care during pregnancy or birth. I had no doubt that I was capable, and felt completely safe, with no doubts. With each birth I was transformed, no longer who I was, rebuilt as the mother I needed to be for the new soul I was caretaking.

I was called to support women wanting to birth at home and I quickly realised that providing women with anything close to the experiences I was witnessing, was not possible in a system dedicated to reducing women to just a physical body that must be checked and measured. The belief is that mothers can't possibly know how they are and are disconnected from their inner knowing.

Change from within this industrial medical complex was NOT possible.

I surrendered my registration.

Now my allegiance is to the mother and I can truly offer care that deeply honours her autonomy, sovereignty and bodily integrity.

If you feel I could be a good fit to provide guidance for your journey into motherhood contact me and we can talk.
